"When my spirit grows faint within me, it is You who know my way"- Psalm 142:3a On days like today, I wish I could hide in my house too... You're very lucky, Mollie.

So seconds after I took this picture I got a text message inviting me to the BSU vs. OSU game on Saturday. I was so excited I could hardly sit through the rest of the class! Yay!

09/21/10

Today one of my students gave me this note. I asked her what it said and she said, "It says, 'you are the best teacher. I love you so much.'" It made my heart happy!

It's Sunday night again...

Sunday nights are always hard. Even when you love your job it's hard to say goodbye to the weekend and actually admit you are going to wake up at 5:30 the next morning. So, since I was 15, when one of those really tough Sunday nights comes my way, I watch parts of the five hour version of Pride and Prejudice. There he is... Mr. Darcy. Somehow he and other "Austen men" seem to make things better. Don't worry folks, I'll be snapped back into reality tomorrow morning!

Today was the Canyon County Music Festival and my church (The Rock of the CMA) had a booth. I was on "passing out water" detail... Jackie gave me a little embellishment to help me get into the spirit of things! ;)

I wonder how many pictures I have taken at the last minute sitting in Marybeth's car...??

Only four of us made it to book club this month... Maybe it had something to do with the book! Anyway, it was a wonderful time as usual. Oh, and for any of you out there wondering, I took my first guitar lesson today :). This is going to be fun!

Oh, the joys of teaching...

In the morning one of the recess duties came into my room to give me a squirt gun a student was pretending to shoot at people. I had to have the "we don't bring toys to school and we DO NOT EVER BRING GUNS TO SCHOOL" talk. Oh joy. Then, in the afternoon another student was showing off his shot gun shells... So, I had to have the "we do not EVER bring anything to do with a gun to school" talk. Oh, five-year-olds...

This was funny. I was reading the story, My Teacher Sleeps at School. The kids in the story think their teacher sleeps in their classroom. One of the character says, "teachers can do anything!" I asked my class if they thought that was true. The results were mixed. Then, one of my students said, "no, you can't do everything. You can't make a donkey disappear!" Crack me up...

09/07/10

I have a little boy in my room who is repeating kindergarten this year. After the first day of school he told me he didn't like school because he wasn't good at it. A six-year-old boy who already has low self-esteem... it broke my heart. Today, two weeks later, he told me he wants to stay in my class forever.

So, if you are wondering why people become teachers, it for moments like this. No, it's not because kids are cute. Trust me, they aren't that cute when they disobey for the 100th time. It's not because we can leave at 3:15. I left "early" today at 4:30. I got to work at 6:45 AM! We don't become teachers because of the summer, although it's nice... No, we become teachers so we can help six-year-olds see how special they are. We become teachers to teach first graders how to read. We become teachers to help fifth graders understand how our country became a nation. We become teachers to show kindergarteners how great learning can be...
A student gave me this monster today :)
Yes, picture day. Still as horrifying as it was in middle school!

Go Big Blue!I have been feeling discontent lately. Mostly, selfishly upset that things do not seem to be going my way in life. The other day I heard this song on the radio, and I have been listening to it over and over again ever since.
No Matter What
by Kerri Roberts
I'm running back to your promises one more time, Lord that's all I can hold on to. I gotta say this has taken be by surprise, but nothing surprises you. Before a heartache can touch my life it has to go through your hands. And even though I keep asking why, asking why...
***
No matter what, I'm gonna love you. No matter what, I'm gonna need you. I know you can find a way to keep me from the pain, but if not, I trust you.
***
When I'm stuck and there's nothing else by myself, I'm just sitting in silence, there is no way I can make it without your help. I won't even try. I know you have reasons for everything, so I will keep believing, no matter what I'm feeling. God you are my hope and you will be my strength.
***
No matter what, I'm gonna love you. No matter what, I'm gonna need you. I know you can find a way to keep me from the pain, but if not, I trust you.
***
Anything I don't have, I know you can give it to me, but it's ok if you don't. I'm not here for those things, the touch of your love is enough on its own. No matter what, I'm gonna love you. No matter what, I'm still gonna need you...
.......................
So, I'm going to put on my Bronco shirt and watch the game. I'm going to teach kindergarten. I'm going to love my nephews. I'm going to laugh with my roommate. I am going to enjoy my friends. I am going to make cookies and probably start some fires in the kitchen. I am going to be thankful that God has chosen to write me in his story. I will trust him.
P.S. I did take this picture, the camera was on self-timer :)

09/04/10

Yum! I spent the night with Marybeth while she house-sat for her parents. She made yummy chocolate chip pancakes for dinner! :)

09/03/10

Go Vallivue! Marybeth and I went to the Kuna v. Vallivue game! It was pretty fun since she works for the Kuna School Districs and I work for the Vallivue School District. But, it was a home game for Kuna, so Marybeth got us in for free and we sat on their side. Ah well, Vallivue won!
I was feeling really "Friday Night Lights" in this moment!
Sorry, Kuna :(

09/02/10

The view outside my new classroom :)

"And here we have Idaho, winning her way to fame..."
.....

My friend Zac had just purchased this book when I saw him on Thursday... I still can't decide why he bought this book. Was it for school? Did he really want to read this?? All I know is I read a few paragraphs and I wanted to go home and cry it was so boring!

09/01/10

Beautiful :)
